Life In A Nutshell

Meridian Therapies have their roots in the practise of Acupuncture, which dates back to between 3,000 and 5,000 B.C.  In 1964, Dr George Goodheart, an American Chiropractor, discovered that when testing specific muscles of the body he could reveal a great deal about a person’s state of health. Dr Goodheart called this technique Applied Kinesiology.

Dr Goodheart observed that muscle testing was not only a diagnostic tool but it could also be utilized for therapeutic benefits. Using muscle testing to assess how the nervous system could control the muscle. He observed that a muscle’s strength could change immediately when certain neurological reflexes and other factors connected to the muscle were stimulated, thus affecting the nerve energy flowing to the muscle. His realization was that various forms of stress – physical, biochemical, mental, emotional, environmental, and electrical can inhibit a muscle and that muscles can become tight  because of opposing muscle weakness.

The muscles are 'strong' when the energy circuits are freely flowing and 'weak' when energy is reduced. The body will automatically attempt to compensate for weakness in one muscle by trying to involve another.

Touch for Health is the basis of Kinesiology and has been safely used since 1973 in over 100 countries, to help in balancing the energy of our meridians, which helps with our emotions & posture.

EricaErica completed her studies of Touch for Health in 1992. Over the following years much research has gone into Kinetics, (energy work), and she continues her study of this dynamic healing modality.

Leading researchers Dr. Bennett and Dr. Jarnette have worked on reflexes and shown how activation of skin areas with deep massage or light touch can get muscles to adjust bones without having to work on the bones themselves.

Our posture is so important, as we can see from the picture of the spine Spinehow the spine has changed in shape from 1911 to 1990 because of our lifestyle.

There is no question that muscles do contract and go into spasm, with many patients presenting problems involving these spasms. However, when patients are examined for muscle spasm, it has been found that an overwhelming majority of these patients have muscle weakness rather than primary muscle spasm, and it is this weakness which then causes the opposing muscle to contract (spasm). It has been concluded that the contracted muscle is a secondary effect of the primary muscle weakness in many cases.Touch for Health

Pain is a signal, a way our bodies tries to communicate with us from slight twinges, to indigestion, headaches, backaches and depression, together with a general feeling of discomfort, illness, or unease whose exact cause is difficult to identify.
